Lately I’ve been feeling like I’m drowning in overlapping deadlines. I’ve got three essays due within the same five-day window, and every time I try to work on one, the other two start buzzing in my head like background noise. I keep switching between tasks and end up finishing none of them. Has anyone here figured out a way to manage this chaos without completely burning out?

I went through something very similar last semester, and the constant mental switching was honestly the worst part of it. What helped me most was breaking the essays into micro-tasks and assigning each one a specific block in the day — not to finish, but just to move forward a little. It made things feel less like juggling three full papers and more like checking off steps. I found a method on monoup that suggested drafting all intros first, then tackling the sections that require the most reading, and only after that switching into editing mode. At first it felt weird to work in pieces, but it actually kept me from freezing up. Also, don’t underestimate the power of giving yourself a short “cooldown” after each writing block. Even a 10-minute walk made the next essay feel less suffocating.
